48 Nabati poets vie for prestigious title
Forty-eight Nabati poets will be competing in the third season of Millions' Poet contest which was inaugurated at Al Raha Beach Theatre in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.
Dubai: Forty-eight Nabati poets will be competing in the third season of Millions' Poet contest which was inaugurated at Al Raha Beach Theatre in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.
All 48 poets introduced themselves to the world live on TV ahead of the 16- week competition.
With a brand new stage set - a replica of the palace at the Liwa Oasis in the Empty Quarter - one new host and the familiar faces of the five judges, the finalists will compete for the prestigious title of the Millions' Poet and Dh5 million in prize money.
Over the next six weeks, eight different poets will compete to get through to the second round. Thursday night's poets were Hakim Al Maala Al Shamri from Saudi Arabia, Haneen Al Samarneh Al Ajarma from Jordan, Zayed Bin Karouz Al Murri from Qatar, Abdullah Khalaf Al Khalidi from Saudi Arabia, Ali Al Sabaan from Saudi Arabia, Ali Alashoul Al Dahmi from Yemen, Mjed Bin Tawirid Al Munhali from UAE and Mutlaq Oudah Al Huraiji from Kuwait.
The Millions' Poet was launched by the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage and is produced by Pyramedia.
The live competition is aired on Abu Dhabi TV and The Million's Poet channel at 10.30pm every Tuesday.
