UAE to hold first Blood Donor Day
The World Blood Donor Day will be commemorated on June 14 this year to create wider awareness of the need for safe blood for transfusion.
Dubai: The World Blood Donor Day will be commemorated on June 14 this year to create wider awareness of the need for safe blood for transfusion.
The event will take place regionally for the first time.
The Blood Donor Day is jointly coordinated by the World Health Organisation, The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, The International Federation of Blood Donor Organisations and The International Society of Blood Transfusion.
Humaid Mohammad Obaid Al Qattami, Minister of Health, said: "Due to the distinguished level of awareness that UAE regularly pays to the health has made the UAE in the level of advanced countries and has been selected to host such a crucial world event for the first time in the region on its fifth anniversary."
The 2008 theme is 'Giving Blood Regularly'.
