The Abu Dhabi International Forum for Disaster Training: Focus on Bird Flu Preparation and Response will focus on the practical training of medical and professional cadres from private and government organisations in the event of a bird flu outbreak, and will discuss strategies for combating disasters.
Administrators, doctors, nurses, rescue teams and paramedics involved in dealing with crises will attend.
Lectures and practical training sessions will include topics such as how to draw up an action plan according to every institution's specialisation, how to sustain communication during a crisis, categorising casualties according to priorities, how to deal with psychological trauma, and how to deal with the media in such a situation.
The forum is organised by the National Programme for Health Professional Skill Development in the UAE, and is co-hosted by the National Medical Simulation Centre, in collaboration with the American Medical Association.
