Dubai: Police have organised a programme for inmates to help them quit smoking.
The Punitive and Correctional Establishments organised the programme in cooperation with Dubai Medical Zone to urge inmates to stop smoking which negatively affects their health.
Major Dr Tariq Al Hashemi, Acting Director, said the Dubai Police organises various programmes and courses for inmates to help them integrate in the society once they leave the jail.
The programme started with awareness lectures for inmates on the dangers of smoking, the right methods to quit, and how to develop a strong will and the methods to control the withdrawal symptoms.
At the end of the programme, many inmates showed their readiness to quit smoking even after leaving the jail, saying that they would continue visiting specialised clinics.
