Abu Dhabi: Three pharmacies and a health centre in Abu Dhabi were shut down for violating safety regulations.

The inspection teams of the Licensing Committee at the General Authority for Health Services found that the pharmacies and the centre in question were breaking rules that affect the safety of the equipment, quality of performance and the proper functioning of the establishments.

The committee has shut down a health centre for 60 days after the team found out the centre has no sterilisation machines. The centre also had no contracts with companies to clean medical waste. Moreover, it did not send dirty bed sheets to specialised medical laundry.

A pharmacy was shut down for running without an assistant pharmacist and for allowing unauthorised people to sell medicine.

Another pharmacy was closed for a month for not storing some controlled drugs in proper place. The third one was shut down because it was run by an accountant.
