No duplicating mum’s milk, research finds

Research into breastfeeding suggests breast milk contains nutrition level formula cannot match

Last updated:

Sharjah Research into breastfeeding that suggests breast milk contains more than 100 ingredients that the formula industry cannot duplicate has prompted the Sharjah Baby-Friendly Emirate Campaign to instil a deeper appreciation of the advantages of breast milk.

Currently, 40 per cent women in Sharjah resort to formula upon their return to work.

The research, published in the book Breastfeeding for Dummies by Carol Vannais and Sharon Perkins, could persuade new mothers to rethink their baby’s nutritional needs.

According to the authors, breast milk is specially formulated to have the right composition for the baby, and to contain the right amounts of nutrients.
