Hygiene checks in public kitchens intensify as holidays approach
Health inspectors are working round-the-clock to ensure that a standard level of hygiene is maintained in public kitchens and bakeries.
Sharjah: Health inspectors are working round-the-clock to ensure that a standard level of hygiene is maintained in public kitchens and bakeries.
Food establishments are operating at full gear as hundreds of residents are expected to flock to bakeries in the next few days leading up to Eid Al Fitr.
"Inspectors regularly visit public kitchens and bakeries in Sharjah to check practices and hygiene of workers at those sites. But during the Eid holidays, the inspections will be intensified even further," said Jasim Mohammad Al Ali, head of the food control section at the Public Health Department, Sharjah Municipality.
The section has several teams of inspectors who work 24 hours a day. As the Eid holidays approach, inspections have been intensified. "We have already intensified inspection to the days leading up to Eid Al Fitr at all types of food service establishments, like restaurants and cafeterias," said Al Ali.
In Dubai, Dubai Municipality has drawn up a detailed plan for Eid Al Fitr celebrations. The plan includes cleaning Eid musallahs and public areas.
Juma Al Fuqae, director of the general maintenance department, said: "We have renovated and developed swimming pools in Mushrif and Mamzar parks several visitors are expected here during Eid. We have given special care to the safety and hygiene aspects."
The food control department has drawn up a plan to meet the requirements of the Eid Al Fitr holidays, by intensifying inspections in food establishments across Dubai.
