Fujairah: Employees at a Fujairah company were yesterday queuing to donate blood to a local hospital.
Staff at Vopak Horizon's Fujairah bunkering terminal turned up by the dozens to participate in the charitable event. Blood donated will be used to boost reserves at the blood bank at Fujairah Hospital.
Terminal operator and volunteer Mohammad Ekram, 40, says this is the fourth time he has donated blood and urged others to come forward and do the same. Mohammad said "Blood donation makes me feel better because it's like you're helping somebody if he's injured and in need of blood".
Another volunteer, Akmal Mehdi, 24, said, "All healthy people should be thinking about helping other who are in need, in the end we are all brothers".
William List, Terminal General Manager, was among the first to give blood. He expressed his satisfaction at the success of the campaign.
