Dubai: Emirati overseas students contacted by Gulf News on Thursday said they do not object to being quarantined if it checks the spread of swine flu in the UAE.

Gulf News reported that the authorities will send medical teams to UAE embassies in affected countries to screen stud-ents before returning home. Students will be quarantined if they show symptoms of swine flu.

Ahmad Fareed Al Darwish, an Emirati studying in Florida, said he appreciates the measures.

"The media has made the swine flu a bigger case than what it is from what I can see and hear, but nevertheless, caution has to be taken since its a new virus and no vaccine has yet been established. I really wouldn't want to spread this disease in my home country and have another fellow citizen or resident of UAE catch this disease," he told Gulf News via e-mail.

Adnan Al Amiri, studying in Brisbane, Australia, said he too agrees with the process, "because we don't want people who are living in my country to catch this sickness".
