Electronic claims to ease confusion
Medical records will soon be shared between primary care facilities, hospitals, health insurance companies and the Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD), providing patients with reliable data.

Abu Dhabi: Medical records will soon be shared between primary care facilities, hospitals, health insurance companies and the Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD), providing patients with reliable data.
Confusion caused by the significant population growth taking place in the capital means that the authorities do not know how many healthcare professionals, and of which type, are needed, while patients often do not know the best doctors for their particular need.
Thus, all healthcare providers will be able to make fully electronic claims starting from May 1.
Electronic claims provide reliable data and can be beneficial in several ways. Namely, patients can obtain additional and improved information on healthcare they receive, allowing them to make more informed choices.
Electronic claims may also improve patient experience, by streamlining the paperwork required in the hospital. Also, hospitals and insurers lower their administrative costs, and can then invest the savings in higher quality patient care.
Finally, HAAD is able to collect reliable information to identify and tackle major killers as well as capacity requirements for healthcare professionals and healthcare facilities alike.
Side effects
Officials from HAAD explained that poor healthcare information has severe side effects because major killers such as diabetes, cancer and other serious diseases cannot be addressed efficiently unless reliable information is available.
Dr Ahmad Al Mazroui, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) and HAAD, praised the collaboration with stakeholders and emphasised his vision for the healthcare system. "This will help create reliable transparency to fuel continuous improvements in the quality of care for our community."
