Dubai: A consumer was shocked to find debris floating in an unopened bottle of Masafi Touch of Peach.
The bottle was bought at a service station in Garhoud and was reported to Masafi. The company retrieved the bottle and removed it for testing. The water has an expiry date of October 24.
Kamran Yousuf, quality assurance manager, Masafi, said of its investigations: "Based on the findings, we have concluded that the foreign material within the product has resulted due to one particular lot of closures [caps] from our Australian supplier. As the same closures were used during one production run of Peach Flavour Water, we immediately initiated product recall of this particular batch to avoid any concern for our valued consumers. One bottle in the marketplace from this run got overlooked and was not removed from the shelf during the recall. This is an unusually rare occurrence."
The customer expressed surprise that this material had been found in a bottle from this particular brand of water, but has not requested compensation or a refund.
"I thought it must be something organic. I'm not going to buy the same water again, not after what I've seen. Now I'm checking all the water I buy," he said.
Yousuf continued: "We at Masafi are highly committed to quality across all our products. we constantly invest to ensure that our products meet the highest purity and hygiene standards."
