Abu Dhabi residents plan second walkathon against diabetes
Residents will unite again in a second walkathon to fight diabetes as part of the Diabetes Awareness Month activities.
Abu Dhabi: Residents will unite again in a second walkathon to fight diabetes as part of the Diabetes Awareness Month activities.
A study supported by the Ministry of Health shows that unless the condition is controlled, around 684,000 individuals across the UAE by 2030 are expected to be affected by diabetes.
The second yearly Start Walking Prevent Diabetes is a shared initiative between the National Health Insurance Company (Daman), the Emirates Foundation and the Imperial College London Diabetes Centre (ICLDC), who are equally working hard on attracting children, families and institutions to take part in the walkathon due to take place on Friday, November 28.
More than 10,000 people are expected to attend the event, which involves a 5km walk from the Marina Mall, which will start at 3pm.
