Dubai: The Twitter page of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has reached one million followers, making him the most followed leader in the Arab world.

Shaikh Mohammad becomes Arab world's most followed leader on Twitter
In a tweet posted on his page on this occasion Shaikh Mohammad said: “Brothers and sisters, today the number of followers has exceeded one million. But I prefer calling you participants rather than followers.”
“Together we came up with many social, humanitarian and cultural initiatives and I have personally benefited from your constructive thoughts. Thank you all, and I hope that we take our communication and interaction to the next level soon, for the good of our communities,” he added.
The success of Shaikh Mohammad’s Twitter page (@HHShkMohd) is attributed to the various topics and issues discussed on the page, ranging from national achievements, development initiatives concerning both Emiratis and expatriates in the UAE, in addition to humanitarian and charitable initiatives carried out on the regional and international level.
The high number of followers can also be attributed to Shaikh Mohammad’s keenness to comment on current international and regional topics and issues.
Resolutions
He also posts updates regarding resolutions passed during Cabinet meetings, stating why these resolutions are important and necessary, and announced the launch of the Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Sport Creativity Award on his Twitter page.
Shaikh Mohammad also posted about horse-racing and his passion for it.
He tweeted about launching the largest ever national environmental project through the ‘Green Economy for Sustainable Development’ initiative, which garnered a positive response from the public.
Shaikh Mohammad also continuously stresses the importance of developing education at the grassroots level, considering that is a key part of the UAE Vision 2021 and is of national importance for sustainable development.
He called on his twitter followers to propose ideas for social and humanitarian initiatives, and promised that he would look into the submissions and implement them, pointing out that some of the chosen ideas and initiatives will be carried out this year, while others will be implemented next year. Among those ideas that was launched was the first Ramadan initiative, “Family Village of Orphans”.
Shaikh Mohammad’s Twitter page was set up in 2009.
