UAE to rehabilitate, train 20 disabled Palestinians

Twenty physically challenged persons from Gaza Strip will get one-year training at the Interior Ministry's Rehabilitation and Employment Centres for People with Special Needs under a grant given by L.ieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

Abu Dhabi: Twenty physically challenged persons from Gaza Strip will get one-year training at the Interior Ministry's Rehabilitation and Employment Centres for People with Special Needs under a grant given by L.ieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

Under the humanitarian initiative, jobs will be offered to those who would like to pursue the professional career.

Nasser Al Sharaiqi, Coordinator of Centres, said this new grant followed the first one in which Shaikh Saif offered training to 11 persons with disability from Lebanon.

''The new grant is in line with the UAE policy to support Arab brethren in all circumstances in confirmation of the approach of His Highness President Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and support of General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces ,''he said.

''The initiative shows the solidarity of the UAE and its people with the people of Palestine at the current circumstances they are experiencing, he added.

During the ten month programme, he added, the disabled Palestinians would receive training on computer skills, e-design, maintenance of electronic appliances.

According to recent world figures, about new 2000 Gazans sustained injuries with disabilities.
