Abu Dhabi: The UAE Foreign Aid Coordination Office (Faco) is appealing for emergency relief aid after a powerful earthquake and massive storms left hundreds dead in Indonesia and Philippines, respectively.

Issued on Friday in Abu Dhabi by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region of Abu Dhabi and President of Faco, the appeal seeks an urgent response from UAE-based donor organisations to deliver relief assistance to those affected by the natural disasters.

"The objective is to quickly reach the victims with much needed aid and to accelerate the resumption of normal life there following the recent natural disasters. The safety and well-being of those affected is a prime concern of the people and the Government of the UAE," said Shaikh Hamdan.

"We call upon organisations in the UAE to act accordingly in response to the current situation. The UAE Foreign Aid Coordination Office is working with the relevant UAE-based organisations to assemble an urgent and effective response to the crisis."
