UAE nuclear plans face challenges
One of the major challenges facing the UAE in its pursuit of nuclear energy are not resources or finances, but rather education and training which help shape public perception, experts told the Nuclear Energy Conference yesterday.
Abu Dhabi: One of the major challenges facing the UAE in its pursuit of nuclear energy are not resources or finances, but rather education and training which help shape public perception, experts told the Nuclear Energy Conference on Tuesday.
"One of the biggest challenges for the UAE, if it goes nuclear will be education and training," Dr Yousuf Shatilla, professor of nuclear engineering, said at Masdar Institute of Science and Technology.
The challenge, he said, "is to develop our own expertise inside the country."
The three-day conference is bringing together people from across the globe to discuss the implications of nuclear energy in the region.
