UAE condemns attack on US consulate
The statement called on the Libyan government to strictly abide by all the terms of 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations
Abu Dhabi: The UAE Foreign Ministry condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attack against the US Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, which led to the death of the US Ambassador John Christopher Stevens and three consul officials.
The statement called on the Libyan government to strictly abide by all the terms of 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations which, in its articles No. 22 and 29 in particular, regulate diplomatic immunities and practices, and call for protection of diplomatic missions by hosting states.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also called for transparent and extensive investigations into the attack in order to bring perpetrators to justice.
