UAE Cabinet approves FNC resolutions against pollution

Abu Dhabi: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, chaired a Cabinet meeting in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.
The Cabinet endorsed a budget for admitting 3,000 Emirati students to UAE universities and colleges for the new academic year.
The move was in line with the directives of Shaikh Mohammad to allocate a budget to absorb Emirati students in public universities.
He also ordered admission of the students who could not register and enrol in study programmes at public universities and colleges like their peers admitted to those universities.
The Cabinet also approved a draft law on regulation of sports agencies and bodies operating in the field of youth welfare and professionalism to encourage them to set up specialised clubs and associations to move from amateurship to professionalism in sport, as well as boosting investment in youth and sports activities.
The Cabinet was briefed on a US human trafficking report. It appreciated the positive points in the report with regard to UAE 's efforts in this respect.
It approved the resolutions of the Federal National Council on the environment pollution and its detrimental effects on public health.
The Cabinet endorsed the Shaikh Zayed Housing Programme's budget for 2008.
It also approved the appointment of Abdullah Al Shehhi, as the new UAE Ambassador to Iraq. It also approved the setting up of foreign aid coordination office to be chaired by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister.
It approved the renewal of the board of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, and the agreement signed between the UAE and the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) to turn the UAE FAO office into a regional one.
The Cabinet endorsed the agreement between the UAE and Spanish governments to exempt holders of diplomatic passports in both countries from entry visa conditions.
The Cabinet also appointed Hamad Al Ka'abi as UAE representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna .
