Sharjah: The Court of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, yesterday mourned the death of the Ruler's brother Shaikh Humaid Bin Mohammad Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, who passed away on Thursday night.

- Their Highnesses Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi and Shaikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi performing the funeral prayers at King Faisal Mosque after Friday prayers, for Shaikh Humaid Bin Mohammad Bin Saqr Al Qasimi. Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Shaikh Abdullah Bin Salim Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Shaikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Shaikh Rashid Bin Saud Bin Rashid Al Mualla, and other shaikhs and senior officials also performed prayers.
A statement from the court contained prayers for his soul. The Diwan also announced official mourning of seven days in Sharjah, during which flags will be flown at half mast.
President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan despatched a condolence cable to Shaikh Sultan. In the cable, Shaikh Khalifa expressed his profound sorrow to the bereaved family.
Burial
The Court of the Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, His Highness Shaikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, also mourned the death of Shaikh Humaid. A seven-day official mourning has also been declared in Ras Al Khaimah.
The funeral prayers were performed at the King Faisal Mosque in Sharjah after the Friday prayers, following which the burial was held at the Jubail cemetery.
Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah; Shaikh Abdullah Bin Salim Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah; Shaikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman; Shaikh Rashid Bin Saud Bin Rashid Al Mualla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain; and other shaikhs and senior officials performed the funeral prayers alongside the Rulers of Sharjah and RAK.

Graduation ceremony postponed
The graduation ceremony for the students completing the first academic season of 2011 at the American University of Sharjah (AUS), which was scheduled for today, has been deferred to another date due to the mourning of the death of Shaikh Humaid Bin Mohammad Bin Saqr Al Qasimi.
The AUS said that the next date will be announced later.
