Shaikh Mohammad hails role of culture and art leaders

Dubai: Intellectuals and artists have a noble message to convey by reviving people's memory of cultural and art heritage, the UAE's Vice-President has said.
His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, met leaders of culture and art in the country when they called on him on Friday evening in Zabeel Palace marking Ramadan.
During the meeting that was also attended by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Shaikh Mohammad exchanged with them his views on the country's cultural scene.
The intellectuals, poets, writers and artists attending the meeting lauded the support of Shaikh Mohammad to all local cultural activities and his encouragement for creativity enriching the cultural scene with activities that enhance the national identity of the UAE society while reflecting the authentic spirit and popular heritage of the Emirati people.
Positive role
Shaikh Mohammad commended the efforts of intellectuals and artists and their positive role in clarifying the civilisation and heritage of the UAE people in the field of stories, drama, poetry, painting and other realms of culture.
Shaikh Mohammad described the UAE's cultural scene as rich in activities and he called upon the country's individuals and designated authorities for more creativity to enhance the cultural and national scene with achievements that protect the UAE heritage and national identity, and at the same time to work on extending bridges between the UAE culture and other civilisations and international cultures.
Shaikh Mohammad also pointed out that the intellectuals and artists have a noble message to convey, which is through the reviving of the peoples memory of the cultural heritage and arts.
The meeting was also attended by Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Abdul Rahman Mohammad Al Owais, Minister of Culture, Youth, and Community Development, and Mohammad Al Murr, Deputy Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority.
