Shaikh Khalifa in talks with Syrian delegation on Arab unity
President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Tuesday received at Al Bateen Palace the Speaker of the Syrian People's Assembly, Dr Mahmoud Al Abrash.

Abu Dhabi: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Tuesday received at Al Bateen Palace the Speaker of the Syrian People's Assembly, Dr Mahmoud Al Abrash.
Al Abrash is currently on a visit to the UAE.
Shaikh Khalifa welcomed Al Abrash in the presence of General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
Shaikh Khalifa welcomed the Syrian delegation and stressed on the need for continuous contact between Arab parliaments, adding that such contact forms part of official political interactions among Arab countries.
Shaikh Khalifa noted the important role of Arab parliaments in boosting Arab solidarity and fraternity.
He said inter-parliament contact among Arab countries is important in unifying Arab stances on the international arena, adding that the UAE remains committed to marching on with its parliamentary experience, which began since the founding of the federation.
"We are committed to ensuring that it meet the aspirations and hope of our people," he said.
Solidarity
The Syrian parliament Speaker praised the UAE President for his positive stances and for his role in boosting Arab solidarity. He cited the big positive responses generated by the visit of Shaikh Khalifa to Syria in July last year.
He also cited the visit to the UAE by Syrian President Bashar Al Assad. He said the visit reflects "the commitment of the Syrian leadership to continue to be in touch with their brethren in the UAE", adding that it also reflects the deep fraternal ties between the two countries.
He cited the assistance and support the UAE gives to Syria as part of the existing spirit of fraternity and solidarity between the two countries.
Present at the meeting were Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al Ghurair, Speaker of the Federal National Council, Lt. General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Interior Minister, Shaikh Ahmad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, chairman of the board of trustees of Zayed foundation, Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs, a number of shaikhs, ministers and senior officials, as well as Syrian ambassador Rostom Al Zoubi, and members of the delegation.
