Abdullah disucsses bilateral ties with Greek President and Foreign Minister

Athens - Karolos Papoulias, President of Greece, on Tuesday received Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Foreign Minister.
Shaikh Abdullah emphasised the importance of developing UAE and Greece bilateral relations in all fields, as well as the need to bolster economic relations, especially in the field of energy and investment.
Shaikh Abdullah extended to Papoulias the greetings of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and his wishes for more progress and prosperity for the people of Greece. Papoulias also conveyed his greetings to Shaikh Khalifa, and stressed his country’s keenness to enhance relations with the UAE especially in light of the prestigious position achieved by the country.
Shaikh Abdullah and Papoulias also discussed topics of mutual concern.
Meanwhile, Shaikh Abdullah met Greek Foreign Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos and discussed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them in all areas, especially in investment, trade and energy.
They reviewed the current developments in the Middle East and a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.
During a press conference held on the conclusion of the meeting, Shaikh Abdullah and Greek Foreign Minister stressed the importance of supporting security and stability in the region.
Shaikh Abdullah expressed his satisfaction with Greece’s recovery after it managed to overcome its economic difficulties.
Avramopoulos welcomed Shaikh Abdullah’s visit to Greece and referred to the distinguished relations that bind Greece and the UAE, and the status the UAE enjoys on both the regional and global levels.
Earlier on Monday, Shaikh Abdullah met Edgar Mayer, President of the Federal Council of the Republic of Austria, and discussed issues of cooperation and friendly relations between the two countries, especially in parliamentary, economic and investment spheres.
During his visit, Shaikh Abdullah opened the new building of the UAE Embassy in Vienna. The 6.8 million euro, five-storey building houses the offices of the UAE Embassy, the UAE Consulate and the offices of the UAE Permanent Mission to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
After unveiling a plaque to commemorate the occasion, the Foreign Minister toured the new building, expressing admiration for its design.
He urged the staff of the Embassy to provide assistance and services to Emiratis, including facilities for business people and hospital patients, as well as promotion of the image of the UAE.
