Ras Al Khaimah: The National Election Committee yesterday announced that registration of nominations for Federal National Council elections will depend on the place of issue of the national family registration document.
Dr. Saeed Al Gafli, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of the Federal National Council (FNC) Affairs, said members of the Electoral College can register in the emirate that issued their family registration document.
He said the controversial issue of members belonging to the electoral college of one emirate and working in another has been resolved.
The solution was inspired by the UAE Constitution, which highlighted the place of residence. The place of residence was interpreted as the place of issuing family registration cards, he said.
Commenting on the first day of registration, on an inspection visit to RAK Election Committee, Dr. Al Gafli said it was excellent all over.
