Mubarak hails UAE role as major economic power on global stage
The UAE and Egypt yesterday stressed on the importance of activating a joint action for the Arab world and better coordination for the handling of Arab and Muslim issues. Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak arrived on a two-day visit to the UAE on Wednesday.

Abu Dhabi: The UAE and Egypt yesterday stressed on the importance of activating a joint action for the Arab world and better coordination for the handling of Arab and Muslim issues. Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak arrived on a two-day visit to the UAE on Wednesday.
President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan held talks with President Mubarak on the latest developments on the regional and international fronts and a number of issues of mutual interest.
The two leaders discussed ways to develop bilateral ties and enhance cooperation in economic, commercial and investment activities.
Welcoming the Egyptian leader, Shaikh Khalifa highlighted the deep-rooted fraternal ties between the UAE and Egypt, as well as continuous cooperation in various areas.
The two leaders also exchanged views on the current developments in the region, with emphasis on the peace process and international efforts, aiming to revive the peace process in accordance with international resolutions and the Arab peace initiative.
Constructive talks
The Egyptian president expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the hospitality he received and said his talks with Shaikh Khalifa were constructive and positive as they reflected the depth of the fraternal relations between the two countries.
Mubarak hailed the UAE's position and the progress it achieved in all spheres, making it a major economic power on the regional and global stage.
Shaikh Khalifa hosted a lunch banquet in honour of the Egyptian president and the accompanying delegation. The banquet was attended by shaikhs, ministers and senior officials.
