Abu Dhabi: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, urged members of the Electoral Colleges (EC) to actively participate in the first-ever parliamentary elections in the UAE to elect half of the 40-member Federal National Council (FNC).

Shaikh Mohammad appealed to voters to interact positively with the historic event with a huge turnout in order to translate the programme announced by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan for empowering the FNC into reality. The elections will be held on 16,18 and 20 December.

The Federal Cabinet approved in its regular meeting, which was presided over by Shaikh Mohammad, giving EC members a one-day leave as per voting dates in their respective emirates to enable them to carry out their national duty successfully.

Dr. Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for FNC Affairs and Head of the National Election Committee, updated the Cabinet on arrangements and preparations for the elections.
