Mohammad receives Iceland's president

General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, yesterday received President Olafur Grimsson of Iceland.

Abu Dhabi: General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Tuesday received President Olafur Grimsson of Iceland.

Shaikh Mohammad welcomed Grimsson and said he hoped the visit would play a major role in strengthening bilateral relations between the UAE and Iceland.

They exchanged views on the Shaikh Zayed Future Energy Prize and the visiting dignitary expressed his happiness about the quality of the prize and the number of international participants in its second edition.

Energy headquarters

Grimsson congratulated Shaikh Mohammad for hosting the headquarters of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in Masdar City, Abu Dhabi.

He also visited Masdar City and was impressed by the progress achieved by the unique initiative.

Grimsson also held talks with the officials on aspects of cooperation. Later he met a number of Icelandic students studying at the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology.

The meeting was attended by Shaikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, Shaikh Abdullah Bin Rashid Al Mualla, Deputy Ruler of Umm Al Quwain and Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and other shaikhs and senior officials.

Meanwhile, Shaikh Mohammad appointed Dr Ahmad Mubarak Al Mazroui as Deputy Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.
