Mohammad hails achievements of armed forces
Says unification helped country's stability
Abu Dhabi General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has given a message to the country's armed forces on the 36th anniversary of its unification.
In his speech on the occasion, Shaikh Mohammad spoke of the UAE armed forces' distinguished status and their brilliant history which is filled with achievements.
He added that Their Highnesses the UAE Rulers took a historic decision three and a half decades ago in unifying the country's armed forces, as they were absolutely certain that they would be taking a giant step forward in the UAE's march and a great achievement on the road of stability, security and peace.
Shaikh Mohammad said that the unification decision came to crown the true patriotic sentiments and as an expression of the UAE people's hopes and aspirations.
This grand step, he added, was achieved and taken through the creative efforts of the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and his brothers, the Rulers of the emirates.
The modernisation of the UAE Armed Forces was the result of continued efforts and the great support of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
Ongoing quest
His efforts, as part of his ongoing quest to achieve comprehensive development in the sectors of the state and all its institutions, provided all the required capabilities for the development of the armed forces, boosting their readiness to protect the security of the motherland and the people, said Shaikh Mohammad.
All these achievements were in danger if they weren't protected and defended. At the same time, the unification of the armed forces was also a means to further strengthening and consolidating the Union and guaranteeing its security and stability, he added.
