Mohammad Bin Rashid sets up higher committee for environmental award

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Thursday issued a decree setting up the higher committee of the fourth edition (2008-2009) of the Zayed International Prize for the Environment.

Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Thursday issued a decree setting up the higher committee of the 4th edition of the Zayed International Prize for the Environment.

Shaikh Mohammad has established the world's most valuable environmental award, worth $1 million (Dh3.67 million), in recognition of the vision of the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Appointments

The new decree appoints Brigadier Dr Mohammad Ahmad Bin Fahad, Director of Dubai Police Academy, as chairman of the committee and Abdullah Jasem Kalban, CEO of Dubai Aluminium Company Ltd. (Dubal) as deputy chairman of the committee.

Membership of the committee also includes Dr Salem Masra Al Daheri, Director General of the UAE Federal Environmental Agency. Dr Abdul Rahman Sultan Al Sharhan of the UAE University's College of Science, Dr Mashkan Mohammad Al Our, Director of Research and Studies Centre at Dubai Police Academy and Dr Saadeddin Mohammad Al Numairi, Adviser to the UAE Federal Environmental Agency.
