Khalifa orders pardon of 700 prisoners
President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has ordered the release of 700 Emirati and expatriate prisoners on the advent of Ramadan.
Abu Dhabi: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has ordered the release of 700 Emirati and expatriate prisoners on the advent of Ramadan.
Shaikh Khalifa also ordered the settlement of the debts of pardoned prisoners. The amnesty for Emirati and expatriate prisoners is in line with Shaikh Khalifa's concern to help those who have served various jail terms, and give them a chance to start a new life and alleviate the suffering of their families.
Pardons are usually granted by Shaikh Khalifa on national and religious occasions to further promote tolerance in the UAE community.
The Abu Dhabi Public Prosecution has begun taking all necessary procedures to put Shaikh Khalifa's order in place.
