Abu Dhabi: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has hailed the high standard the UAE Armed Forces has attained.
In a statement to the Dira Al Watan magazine, the President said: "We pay special attention to our armed forces by providing it with all materials and logistics that can make it a modern force capable of safeguarding the country's achievements ... and we never hesitate to equip it with the latest in weaponry and defence systems."
Shaikh Khalifa said the armed forces had hoisted the UAE flag aloft in various parts of the world, showing a unique example to the globe in its endeavour to serve the mankind and provide security and peace to strife-torn nations and groups.
"Such an approach is testimony to our firm conviction that international peace and security must be based on justice, cooperation and tolerance.
"However, the role our armed forces plays in this respect is under no circumstance separable from that being carried out by the police authorities in providing utmost degrees of security and stability to the citizens and residents alike.
"All this is done through their efforts to stave off all forms of crimes, combat drug problems and crimes novel to our society and deepen good citizenship concepts.
"We have, therefore, striven to establish a modern police force staffed with qualified personnel and equipped with the latest in technology," Shaikh Khalifa stressed.
