Sharjah: Communications experts on Sunday highlighted the importance of government communication with media outlets, and that the public are no longer willing to live in an age where information is blacked out.

The statements were made during Sunday's first Government Communication Forum, which was inaugurated by His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah on Sunday.

The two-day forum will be an annual event that aims to transfer the latest professional practice in the field of government communication to Sharjah, and this year it was held under the theme, "The role of governmental communications in managing development."

One of the main sessions at the forum's debut was how governmental media communications departments should manage a crisis situation.
