Gargash defends UAE's human rights records
Foreign minister describes UAE as 'one of the most advanced economies in the Middle East'
Dubai: Dr Anwar Gargash, UAE's state minister for Foreign Affairs, said, the UAE's human rights records should be viewied in totality, and not based on reports focusing on a single issue, hinting at the latest European Parliament resolution on the issue.
"We are one of the most advanced economies and progressive countries in the Middle East, upholding rights of people. Anyone who evaluates our records, should look at them in totality - within the context of the overall development of the UAE," he said, while accompanying British Prime Minister David Cameron at the Big 5 Show.
He said, some of these reports are based on individual instances and are published by entities that do not look at the overall development of the country. "As a country, we have demonstrated good governance and overall development. Our human development records speaks of the overall situation," he said.
