Fujairah: After a leisurely start to registration day, nominees looking to win one of two seats representing Fujairah in the Federal National Council (FNC) began to arrive with increasing regularity, by noon reaching a quarter of the expected final tally of nominations.

Over 400 of Fujairah's Electoral College members are eligible to stand for the FNC and it is estimated that the number of people putting themselves forward for election could top 40 candidates.

The first day of official registration for FNC nominees, taking place at the Emiri Court in Fujairah, was characterised by a sense of relaxed but ordered procedure.

In Umm Al Quwain, the first day of registration saw relatively low activity. Only two members of the Electoral College registered.
