Emirates ID data in use at 120 public bodies
Databases pertain to records of employees and customers of individual organisations
The databases are related to the records of employees and customers of these bodies, an Emirates ID statement said on Monday.
Emirates ID said that this service is provided exclusively to government institutions. It clarified that this ‘Data Matching Service’ aims to limit the duplication of records when identification documents presented by customers are changed, as is the case with passport numbers after renewal.
The authority commended the efforts of more than 160 government bodies and institutions in the country tht had already taken steps to admit ID cards in official transactions. The move had a positive impact on the organising and management of files and records related to individual transactions at these bodies, Emirates ID said. The authority also facilitated the matching and comparing of information with its records by offering details including the ID number for each individual residing in the country linked to his or her biometric data.
The authority said this service had elicited growing interest from government bodies during 2012. The Emirates ID provides the service to government departments on request, the statement said.
