Umm Al Quwain: The needy families committee in Umm Al Quwain – affiliated with the Dar Al Ber Society donated Dh2.5 million as school assistance as part of its programme to help needy students get an education.
Amira Al Shamsi, Deputy Head of the needy families committee in Umm Al Quwain said that the committee is keen on supporting the education of individuals without adequate financial means through the assistance programme which is backed by philanthropists. The programme will see the organisation pay school tuition fees and provide for school supplies of needy children.
Dar Al Ber, she added, also provides schools with the latest devices to facilitate high standards of teaching and the attainment of good educational results.
Al Shamsi added that the needy families committee had made donations of about Dh2.542 million to support the education of needy students since the beginning of 2014. Teaching aids, tools, stationery, computer equipment, and other requirements were all covered under the assistance scheme, he said.
The committee also pledged donations that went towards the installation of air conditioners in athletics halls at the Ahmad Bin Rashid primary education school in addition to learning tools for students with disabilities worth Dh32,800 including iPad devices, wheelchairs for the physically challenged and seats for students suffering from hyperactivity.
