The Abu Dhabi Executive Council viewed a presentation by the Urban Planning Council on the new Khalifa City in Abu Dhabi.
The plan includes a complex for ministries, the federal government establishments and diplomatic quarters. The new plan aims at adding a new hub to the city, for those who live outside Abu Dhabi, and to relieve the current traffic pressure.
The plan boasts of a complete sports city, a university complex and a residential area.
It also includes infrastructure facilities and a new road web, Metro trains which connect the new city centre to the current centre, an airport and areas of urban construction inside and outside the emirate.
The council approved the initial plans for the capital area. It also asserted the importance of setting a time span for the execution of the infrastructure facilities.
