Abu Dhabi: The Cabinet approved the setting up of a unified committee, chaired by Abdul Rahman Mohammad Al Owais, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, to coordinate between emirates for their National Day celebrations.
It reviewed the initial stand on the implementation of the federal general budget from January 1 to September 30, 2008.
The Cabinet approved the closing account for 2007 of the Marriage Fund and the 2009 budget of the Emirates Specifications and Standardisation Authority. It also reviewed other issues and took appropriate decisions regarding them.
Public sector employees will get a 12-day holiday from December 2 to 13 to observe the National Day and Eid Al Adha.
The Cabinet yesterday decided to combine the two holidays, and that work at all government departments will resume on Sunday, December 14.
The decision was made during a Cabinet meeting chaired by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet strongly condemned the terrorist attacks that tore through Mumbai last week and reiterated the UAE's solidarity with the Indian government and people.
In a statement issued after the Cabinet meeting, the Cabinet reaffirmed its support for India against this terrorist crime, which left hundreds of casualties and injuries and caused vast destruction to the commercial capital of India. The ministers stressed that all efforts must be joined to combat terror and protect humanity.
