Abu Dhabi: The Emirates Identity Authority has urged all private establishments to benefit from digital ID applications in developing services provided to customers.

The authority expressed its compete willingness to cooperate with private sector bodies, such as banks, exchange houses and others, which are interested in developing programmes that would enable them to make the best use of the digital ID project in developing their transactions with the public.

The digital ID, issued by the authority, is characterised by sophisticated properties that can be benefited from in developing online services and procedures by public and private bodies via the authority's e-pay portals that help verify the identity of customers and the credibility of the ID used for completing online procedures.

The announcement came during the launch of the first initiative of activating the digital ID in the consumer sector under the theme "ID Plus", which comes in line with the memorandum of understanding signed recently by the authority with Al Fajr Net.

Transactions

The initiative comes in the authority's effort to encourage private establishments and bodies to benefit from digital ID applications, thus easing e-transactions, as well as developing them to cope with the needs of the private and public sectors.

The digital ID is the project of the future which is regarded as a direct reflection of the rapid development of the digital economy worldwide. The vital value of the project would effectively contribute to consolidating the concept of "secure electronic economy" in the UAE through the provision of services for verifying IDs and substantiating the credibility of the ID card used for completing online transactions.

New Vis procedure

Expatriates undergoing medical tests as part of the residence visa application process at the preventative medicine centre (PMC) in Mussaffah in Abu Dhabi have to first apply for national ID cards.

The Emirates Identity Authority will link the visa medical test with the ID card registration from today, it announced yesterday.

Expatriate applicants must first visit an authorised typing centre to fill out the application for an ID card and get an appointment before they get a medical test.
