Abu Dhabi to establish care centre for victims of domestic violence
A care centre for providing health, psychological and legal assistance to victims of domestic violence will be set up in Abu Dhabi.
Abu Dhabi: A care centre for providing health, psychological and legal assistance to victims of domestic violence will be set up in Abu Dhabi.
The move is in line with the instructions of Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, in his capacity as Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Judiciary Department (ADJD).
The centre will serve as a shelter for children and women who suffer domestic violence that could put their lives and their physical and psychological safety at risk.
The move is part of the ADJD's vision to create an environment that ensures easy access by individuals to their vested rights enshrined in the constitution.
The creation of the centre, the first of its kind in the country, will constitute a qualitative addition to efforts made by Her Highness Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, chairperson of the UAE General Women's Union, and the Family Development Foundation, to provide protection for women and children from all forms of violence.
It will also offer health and psychological care to victims of domestic violence as well as legal counselling to help them prosecute their abusers
