Abdullah and UN chief hold talks on Iraq and Palestine
Ban Ki-moon lauds UAE’s gesture in writing off Baghdad’s loans.
New York: Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, yesterday met Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary-General, in the presence of UN Under-secretary General Terry Larson.
They discussed the political stances on key international and regional issues. The key issues discussed by the leaders include the latest developments in Iraq, the Palestine cause and other Middle Eastern issues that top the agenda of the UN General Assembly meeting.
They also discussed emergency humanitarian aid extended by the UAE to several countries to support their development efforts as well as to countries affected by armed conflicts and natural calamities.
Ban Ki-moon expressed his satisfaction and appreciation for the UAE's decision to write off all debts on Iraq and reappoint an ambassador in Baghdad.
