Campbell McLauchlan, from the Emirates Children's Symphony Orchestra held a fundraising performance in Ibn Battuta Mall.
Campbell, who attends Jumeirah College, moved to Dubai from Sydney a year ago where he was a member of the Sydney Youth Orchestra.
An advocate for charity work, he raised thousands of dollars for an African children's charity while living in Australia. He also played his violin in hospital wards for the enjoyment of patients.
The drive, which was launched in Ramadan, aims to offer education to one million children in poor countries.
