Walk raises money for stray cats
Cat rescue charity Feline Friends held a walk on Friday to raise awareness of stray cat problems and to raise funds for spaying.
Dubai: Cat rescue charity Feline Friends held a walk on Friday to raise awareness of stray cat problems and to raise funds for spaying.
Janet Small, spokesperson, said: "We've sterilised over 1,000 cats this year in association with Dubai Municipality. A healthy sterilised cat keeps the rodent population down, and also keeps other unhealthy cats from its community."
The 9km walk around Safa Park in Jumeirah raised Dh5,060 in cash donations from about 150 participants and another Dh5,000 is expected to be collected from sponsorships.
Small asked members of the public to sterilise their own cats and to report stray cats to Feline Friends so they can be trapped, sterilised and released.
