Dubai: An Indian woman said she suffered a horrendous experience at Ski Dubai while celebrating her sister's birthday at the popular Dubai tourist attraction.
Ruby Bal, 27, lost the skin on her knuckles when an instructor "spinned her too fast" on a tubing ride in the snow park.
Bal, who works for a real estate company, on Friday told Gulf News her blood pressure rose and she couldn't breathe for about 10 to 15 seconds after being "heartlessly pushed down the slope".
She said: "The instructor kept spinning me despite my screams and requests. At the end of the ride I lost my senses and was rushed to the emergency clinic in Ski Dubai [in Mall of the Emirates]."
"I discovered the staff member who had been spinning me had only been employed at Ski Dubai for two months. I filed a complaint and a team leader assured me he would be given a warning.
"I just wonder how Ski Dubai can hire such irresponsible and careless staff. Furthermore, he only seemed to rotate women as he did the same thing to my sister and a lady after me but not to my two brothers."
Ski Dubai responded in a statement to Gulf News.
"Every year, ten of thousands of people visit Ski Dubai to experience the excitement and thrills of a snow environment, many for the first time.
"The activities at Ski Dubai include skiing and snowboarding for the experienced, ski and snowboarding lessons for those wishing to learn and our magnificent snow park area for people wanting to just experience snow.
"For all activities, the safety and comfort of Ski Dubai's customers is of primary importance and the highest safety standards are implemented to ensure this. One very clear instruction is the importance of wearing gloves.
"On June 25, one of our customers visited the snow park at Ski Dubai and during her visit she descended the moderately pitched tubing slope. As she did so, she unfortunately sustained minor abrasions to one hand. She was immediately treated with cream by our trained staff. The abrasions were minor and she was released. This was an unfortunate but very rare incident dealt with in a professional way by our expert team," read the statement.
