Victim who survived near drowning dies in hospital
After being recovered from bottom of sea, he spent two weeks in ICU.
Ras Al Khaimah: A man without documents to prove his identity and who had been in a coma at the Intensive Care Unit of Saqr Hospital here since May 15, was pronounced dead yesterday, two weeks after almost drowning off the RAK Creek.
Medical sources said that the 19-year-old victim identified as M.M.B. had not shown any improvements on the medical level and his medical condition had been deteriorating in the past couple of days.
The victim - accompanied by his 19-year-old Emirati friend identified as Y.M - went swimming in the sea near Brusli Mosque, but one of them drowned and the other was taken to hospital.
The case of the drowning of the duo was reported to the authorities which dispatched a group of divers to search for them.
The divers recovered the Emirati whom the medics pronounced dead on the shore.
The body of the other friend was recovered from the bottom of the sea and the medics announced that he was still alive and he was rushed to Saqr Hospital.
The victim spent two weeks in the intensive care unit before being pronounced dead.
