UAE Red Crescent Authority distributes needy materials to 240 labourers
Around 240 labourers were given First-Aid kits, meals and T-shirts by the UAE Red Crescent Authority after noon prayers on Wednesday.

- According to Dr Saleh Moussa Al Taey, Secretary General, RCA, the initiative is a humanitarian cause that gives labourers their rights and reduces the health risks involved in working outdoors during hot weather conditions.
Abu Dhabi: Around 240 labourers were given First-Aid kits, meals and T-shirts by the UAE Red Crescent Authority after noon prayers on Wednesday.
Over 60 supervisors gathered in front of the authority's building from four different sectors across the city to collect nutritious meals, T-shirts and First-Aid kits.
The second gathering is an annual cause meant to enlighten and educate labourers about healthy measures to take during hot weather conditions to avoid heat stroke, exhaustion and de-hydration.
Protecting labourers from the heat is an initiative and decision taken previously by the Ministry of Labour who demanded that laborers do not work during hot weather conditions, specifically from July 1 to August 31 between 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm.
According to Dr Saleh Moussa Al Taey, Secretary General, RCA, the initiative is a humanitarian cause that gives labourers their rights and reduces the health risks involved in working outdoors during hot weather conditions.
"This initiative is a partnership between the Ministry of Labour and the Red Crescent Authority, and one of our biggest projects is to create mobile emergency clinics in construction sites that carry fully equipped medical material in case of on-site injuries, equipments for diabetics and an advanced First-Aid kit," said the secretary general.
Gulf News also learnt that by next week more than 300 labourers and supervisors from 60 different districts across the UAE will gather in front of Dubai labour office to attend a campaign regarding heat strokes and precautions to take while working under hot weather conditions.
"This is the first time we do this campaign and it's a great initiative that will increase awareness among labourers across the UAE," said Dr Mohammad Shemias, from the First Aid and Community Safety Department at the RCA.
