UAE energy consumption uses 25% of Gulf water
Energy consumption in the UAE has sucked up 25 per cent of Gulf water - a fifth of which has been used for electrical energy, while more than 100 energy generating projects are currently being developed in the region, said the chairman of the Emirates Energy Awards.

According to Abdullah Al Amiri, Chairman of the Emirates Energy Awards, a subsidiary of Dubai Quality Group the UAE will need $10 billion (Dh36 billion) to satisfy energy demand for the next ten years, due to increasing land developments and projects that increase by 12 per cent each year.
He highlighted the need to find new energy resources. He said tidal energy can harness and potentially provide some of the energy the world currently relies on, but is not suitable in the UAE.
