Ras Al Khaimah: The Air Wing of Ras Al Khaimah police on Tuesday rescued three Irish tourists stranded on top of a mountain in Ghaleelah.

The tourists arrived early in the morning to climb the mountains, which are a well-known attraction for tourists.

A senior police officer said the Police Operations Room received a phone call from one of the stranded tourists requesting their immediate assistance.

The police officer was informed that the men got lost climbing the mountain. The tourists arrived to Ghaleelah, parked their car at the base of the mountain and began their trek to the top. After a few hours, the men lost their way and were not able to return to their starting point.

Stranded

The tourists were carrying mobile phones, which they used to report their case to the police but failed to provide authorities with a specific description of their location.

One of the tourists told police that they were sitting under a tree for protection from the sunlight. The police instructed the Air Wing to act immediately and search for the stranded tourists to bring them back to safety.

The officer said a helicopter and a rescue team embarked on the search mission, which lasted for half an hour before they were able to locate the tourists.

Journey

The tourists moved to a suitable place where the police helicopter was able to pick them up and transport them to a safe location where they were provided with the necessary medical check-up.

The officer urged visitors and tourists to report their journey to mountainous areas in advance so that police officials can take the necessary measures to secure their safety during their mountain climbing adventure.
