Ras Al Khaimah: A school bus driver died at the wheel on Monday after suffering a fatal heart attack, spreading panic among the female students onboard.
The Indian driver was waiting to pick up a student when the incident occurred.
The students shouted for help until a police patrol arrived. The police found the driver dead at the wheel. The body of the driver, who was in his mid-forties, was referred to Obaid Allah Hospital. Doctors said he had suffered a fatal heart attack.
The management of the private school the driver worked for said it was lucky that the incident had taken place when the driver had parked his bus otherwise a major catastrophe could have occurred.
The school management assigned another driver to bring the students to school.
The replacement driver went to find the bus but no girls as they had called their families who had arrived to pick them up.
None of the students who witnessed the incident attended school on Monday.
