Stores raided for changing names
Inspectors from the Department of Economic Development have raided several stores to check names registered on trade licences.
Ras Al Khaimah: Inspectors from the Department of Economic Development have raided several stores to check names registered on trade licences.
The inspectors checked the signs displayed by the stores against the names registered after the department received several complaints from the public that many outlets have changed their names.
Several stores were found to be violating the law and used commercial names that are totally different from the names approved by the department.
They were ordered to pay a fine of Dh500, which will be doubled should the violation be repeated.
Coordination
The department announced that it will coordinate with the municipality to keep a close watch on the names of the stores.
Hamad Hassan Al Shamsi, Deputy Director of the department, highlights the importance of abiding by the names registered on the commercial licences.
"These names have been approved by the Commercial Affairs and Licensing Section at the department, and the commercial outlets should not change them," he said.
Al Shamsi said the Department of Economic Development has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Economy that the commercial names will not be repeated.
