Dubai: The Emirates Red Crescent has carried out field inspections on the well-drilling projects in Iraqi Kurdistan.
The ERC delegation is currently inspecting areas in which four artesian wells will be built as part of the UAE Water Aid Project launched by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The project aims to provide clean drinking water for 5 million people around the world.
Works on the wells is being supervised by the UAE Consulate in Iraqi Kurdistan. Humaid Rashid Al Shamsi, Deputy Secretary General of International Aid and head of the ERC delegation, met Kurd officials to discuss the wells’ feasibility in meeting the needs of the people.
The officials expressed their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the UAE and its wise leadership. They reaffirmed the UAE’s leading role in launching initiatives in the field of humanitarian work.
The ERC delegation also inspected the UAE Camp for Syrian refugees in Erbil. The delegation was briefed on humanitarian services provided by the camp during Ramadan, and held meetings with the camp’s management team to learn about the refugees’ future needs.
The delegation met a number of refugees at the camp, and inquired about their needs during Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr. They promised to meet the refugees’ needs as quickly as possible.
